Itinerary

Day 01: Puno – Uros – Taquile – Suasi Island

• In the morning transfer and journey by boat to the Floating Island of Uros in Lake Titicaca. Located 4 km from Puno, the original inhabitants of these floating islands are said to descend from one of the most ancient peoples of the Americas and still to this day practise their ancient traditions. Their dwellings made of totora reed are built on the surface of Lake Titicaca.
• Afterwards, you will make your way to the unique Island of Taquile, where time appears to have stopped. The Mediterranean atmosphere of this place is striking, with its steps of stone and its houses centred around the square. Its indigenous community that lives here, around 350 families are descendants of the Incas and known for their Textile activities, such as their beautifully woven chumpis (belts), chullos (caps), and ojotas (and sandals) and according to the custom, officials are distinguished by black or brown caps.
• Their agriculture system operates on a collective basis and the crops are distributed according to each individual need, a traditions which goes back to the XIV^th century.
• Taquile Island also offers a magnificent lake landscape from where the impressive snowfalls of the Cordillera Real (Real mountain chain) can be seen.
• Departure to Suasi Island, (pls note guide will return to Puno). Arrival, reception, and lodging in the Casa Andina Private Collection Suasi Island. Suasi is located at 3 812 masl and 72 km from Puno, by boat. The Suasi Island is considered a private and protected “Natural Ecological Reserve”. You will also see wild animals, vicuñas, vizcachas, and several kinds of birds. (L-D).

Day 02: Suasi Island – Community

• After breakfast, walking tour to explore the surrounding of the Suasi island and observation of the flora and fauna. Suasi Island is considered a private and protected “Natural Ecological Reserve”. It is an environment of harmonic life between Man and Nature. On this Island, you will see many activities, such as the management of Andean plots, crops, herbs, vegetables, flowers; care of pets, alpacas, ovines, bovines, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, etc. You will also appreciate wild animals on the Island, such as the vicuñas, vizcachas, and several kinds of birds. All this will be offered giving your customers the comfort they deserve. Afternoon time to relax.

Day 03: Suasi Island – Puno

• Breakfast and departure back to Puno by Regular Transport, journey time approx 4 hours. Arrival and transfer to Puno by regular road transport. (B, BL).
