This is an alternative way to visit the popular floating Islands of the Uros in an adventure that you will not forget. You will enjoy the experience of sailing on the highest lake in the world, Lake Titicaca, in a journey that we’ll see different types of birds, plants and beautiful landscape surrounding the lake.
Departures: Daily from April to November
Level: Soft adventure, experience no needed
Minimum: 2 paxes
Leaving early either from Puno or Juliaca you will enter the road to Llachon at Illpa, passing the villages of Huata and Coata. You will continue along the peninsula of Capa Chica, arriving to the main village of the same name. The road follows the Titicaca lake shore at this point; you will pass two communities, finally reaching the village of Llachon, the embarkation point. After a briefing, appropriate safety equipment and embark on your three to four hour sea-kayak adventure. Paddling first along the coast of the peninsula you leave the point after an hour and cross the lake towards the island of Taquile. On arrival disembark, store your kayak on shore, lunch and spend the rest of the day exploring the island. Overnight in rural lodge overlooking the Titicaca lake with beautiful views of the Cordillera Real. (L-D)
You will explore the coastline of the island by kayak and head across the open water again returning to the starting point. Hopefully with the prevailing wind behind you, you will complete this leg of the journey faster. On arrival, lunch at Llachon before returning to the mainland from the peninsula. (B-L)
