Heliconia Amazon River Lodge

Day 01: IQUITOS – HELICONIA LODGE

Arrival to Iquitos airport and transfer to the river port Bellavista, located on the shores of Nanay River. Travel on a motorboat through the Amazon River. Visit the “Monkey Island” (10.5 ha) where you can see several species of monkeys, such as: tamarinds, dusky titi monkey, monk saki, common woolly monkey, among others. Afterwards, visit of Yanamono (Black Monkey). Rainforest where you will find more than 300 species of trees and where Heliconia Amazon River Lodge is located.

Lunch and brief resting time. Guided walk through primary forest (approx. 2 hours), where you will identify botanic species, medical plants and gigantic trees. Return to lodge and time to rest. Appreciate sunset and then night tour through Amazon River to hear noises from the forest.

Return to lodge for dinner and overnight. (L-D).

Day 02: HELICONIA LODGE

At dawn, boat trip by the Amazon River to see birds and the Victoria Regia (water lilies). Return to lodge for breakfast and brief resting time. Visit to the Yagua Town to see how these locals live. Afterwards, visit to a “Trapiche”, an artisan distiller of rum.

Return to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, local style fishing. On the way back to the lodge you may be able to observe pink dolphins (Inia Geoffrensis) if the river conditions are appropriate dinner and overnight. (B–L-D).

Day 03: HELICONIA LODGE – IQUITOS

Early breakfast and transfer by boat to Iquitos, then transfer to the airport to get fly to Lima. (B).
