Cayman Lodge: Sachavacayoc Lake and The Kolpa of Chuncho (NO CAMPING) 4 Days / 3 Nights

Day 1: Pto. Maldonado – Cayman Lodge

Morning transfer to airport for flight to Puerto Maldonado (The World’s Biodiversity Capital). On arrival to Puerto Maldonado, reception at the airport. Transfer to the main harbour, where you will board the boat to the tambopata lodge, journeying up the Tambopata River.

On arrival, welcome cocktail to cool down and meet the staff and a short visit of the lodge installations.

In the afternoon a walk through the surrounding jungle. Dinner.

In the evening you will take a walk around the lodge to listen to the nocturnal rhythms of the Amazonian jungle.

Overnight in Lodge. (L-D).

Day 2: Day hiking through the jungle to Condenado lake –  Sachavacayoc lake

After an early breakfast, you will hike through the primary forest for two hour and a half, you will see many medicinal plants and 5 species of monkeys. Arrival to the Oxbow lake you will board your canoe, whilst you move through the water you will see giant otters, wild boar, varieties of birds and many other mammals.

Picnic Lunch in the forest facing the lake, piranha fishing and at the end of the day return to lodge. Dinner and in the evening a stroll in the jungle and listen to the jungle sounds and at the river bank search for the Caimans and Capybaras. Overnight in Lodge. (B-L-D)

Day 3:  Cayman Lodge – Kolpa Chuncho

Early wake up call and after you will board our boat for the 3 hour ride to an area called Chuncho on the Tambopata River, breakfast on board. You will have the opportunity to see, monkeys, capybaras, giant otters and wild boars. You will arrive to the local Kolpa at Chuncho, where you will be able to observe the fairy like show, a large number of parrots visiting the Kolpa, which will become a blaze of red, blues, yellows and greens. After you will make your way downstream to the Gatowaterfall for Lunch and the perfect swim. Return to Lodge. Relax in the hammocks. Dinner.

In the evening, you will take a stroll and listen to the jungle sounds and at the river bank search for the Caimans and Capybaras. Overnight in Lodge. (B-L-D)

Day 4:  Back to Pto. Maldonado

Early morning rise and experience sunrise, as you travel down river, the titis and howler monkeys will be giving their early morning shouts, which will accompany you all the way to Puerto Maldonado.

Transfer to local airport. (B)
